5870 sell or crossfire?

I have 3 5870 cards, 2 one g each and the other 500mb. would crossfire'ing 2 cards work in todays games or should I sell them and get whatever I can afford, R9 90 or 780 there abouts ? Or justkeep them and use them singly. As always, thank you
