Hello, first time poster.
I recently upgraded from a 3900x to a 5950x.
Mobo: MSI x570 Ace
32 GB Gskill royal trident 3600 16-16-16
2 Nvme and 1 sata SSD
850W PSU
GTX 3090
When I first swapped the processor, it ran ok for the first few hours. Then I would get a BSOD with either Nvlddmkm. sys. Or NO GREATER OR EQUAL error. Or Critical error failed.
First instinct was to swap the GPU with my old 2080 super, same issue.
Then started taking out each ram stick, each ram would would post but result in blue screen
I went ahead and bought a ASUS VIII crosshair thinking the board was the issue. However, the same issues remain with BSOD.
I went into Bios and swapped the default voltage (which was 1.5V) to 1.3. And the ram from 1.2 to 1.4
It was stable for a bit, but ultimately still BSOD.
When I turn off settings such as SMT, the PC now becomes stable. However, anytime I try to play a serious game like Godfall or Ghostrunner, the game immediately crashes. What is weird is it doesn't happen on all games just most. Wow for instance can run without a hitch, and a few fighting games. Anything else can't be ran.
I have new ram coming tomorrow to test if this is it, but I can't help but feeling I am just rebuilding a PC for a failing processor that needs to be RMA'd.
Thank you for reading. Any thoughts?
The processor can now run windows, but anytime I kick up a game it immediately crashes.
