6+2 pin to power up 1060 strix oc question

Hello guys, im not an insane computer maniac so i wanted to ask, can these 2 cables:

^ these are same photos, just in the other perspective, so, can this 6+2 pin cables power up this card, this socket (or how is it called) http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2016/07/asus-geforce-gtx-1060-strix-oc-review/1060strix-7b.jpg The card is asus gtx 1060 strix oc, and my power supply is https://www.silentiumpc.com/en/vero-l1-500w-80plus-standard/ If there are some mistakes im sorry, im not an english master either, and will this cable be able to fit in the holes perfectly

1) YES, the 6+2 pin is exactly what you need to plug into the 8-pin connection on the graphics card. The reason the 2 pins hang off is so the cable can support smaller graphics cards as well that don't need so much power.

**Also, that isn't a high-quailty PSU, so if you have a chance to upgrade it in the future that would be a good idea.

But these cables have the pin shapes of rectangles and other ones you know probably what im talking about, about the shape of the pin, if it wont fit perfectly in, what will happen, i know that the ones not being rectangle are for not putting the cable on the wrong side

You're correct, the square pins are a type of 'key' that makes sure you're plugging the cable in the right way.

Your 6+2 cable definitely is the correct cable, so if it isn't going in one way try flipping it around. The cable might be very snug when going into the graphics card, but firm pressure should be all you need to get it to go in.

Yes. That is a 6+2 pin PCIe supplementary power cable. The PSU you have will power the card just fine and with 36A on the +12V rail it will do it safely. Its efficiency isn't the greatest with only a 80+ rating but it's better than bargain basement.

That PSU should be fine with the rest of your hardware but I can't assume. If you post all your hardware I could offer a more definitive answer but as far as those cables are concerned yes that 8pin power connector will accept that 6+2 pin supplementary power cable and will fit fine. IT may not fit absolutely perfectly due to some PSU designs(not the best quality control) but all 6 or 6+2 or 8 pin pcie cable will fit into any 6 or 8 or 6 + 6 or 6+ 8 or 8+8 pin card.

The website for that PSU says 2 x PCIe 6+2pin. You can be 100% certain that PSU is compatible with that GFX card. I most certainly wanted to build my computer before all the parts arrived and worried about some things. In the end all the worrying was for naught. Everything fit just fine and booted perfectly. However there aren't any compatiblity issues between that card and that PSU.

On a side note I would download the latest driver http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/108324 (for a Windows 10 64bit system) for that card so that when you install the card you can click on that driver(save to desktop?) as soon as Windows loads and restart the PC immediately after that. Never use the driver from the included disc.

Yes you can. There are actually 3 8pin connectors. 2 of them are PCIe supplementary power connectors and the other one in a 4+4 pin EPS(for your CPU) power cable.

Ok I have installed my new graphics card and everything booted up like normal. Now my only problem is that the desktop screen resolution is just stretched out or zoomed in and every time I click on display settings, nothing happens the icon is showing in the taskbar but I click on it and the window does not come up which means I cannot change my resolution. I don't know if it has something to do with the card or if I messed up something while putting my new power supply in. I checked and made sure that all the connectors are put in properly. I still have my Radeon r7 graphics still built in and I don't know if the drivers are still there now I have installed my card in. And also the audio is not playing at all.do I have to reset my pc entirely?
