I have 6 fans in my case but my motherboard only has 2 fan headers, and one of them is for the CPU, Is using splitters my only option as powering 6 fans off one header, im guessing isn't good.
I would go with a fan controller. I personally own this one https://www.amazon.com/Sentry-5-4-Inch-Controller-Cooling-AC-SEN-3-B1/dp/B00KJGYLNM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491180975&sr=8-1&keywords=sentry+3
My Problem is I use an corsair air 240 case which means there are no drive spaces so no where to put a fan controller

yea, a fan controller is what you need. But you will need a spare sata or molex connectior.
A better solution if you have PWM fan headers on the motherboard are a couple PWM Y-splitters. That allows you to control the fans from the motherboard utility

Some fan hubs have a magnetic base. you can use this to put them anywhere (just not on top of your hard drive).
