6 rx580s gpu mining motherbord?

my friend is planning a ryzen gaming rig from quiet sometime.now he's also thinking about mining.
so is its ok if he go with:
asus prime x370 + ryzen 1600

otherwise
asrock h81 pro bt r2.0 + cheap celeron is available.

motherboard price is same in both cases.the only different is cpu price.AS he wanna make a gaming rig 1600 seems a better choice.

but ONLY IF its ok for 6 rx580 gpus.
thr r no reviews or support for ryzen mining for ths specific board. 🙁

I would say neither. Neither one has 6 pci-e x16 slots (x370 has 3) and since Rx580 is dual slot card, you would need special board to even have that many slots.

(h81 has only one pci-e 16x slot)

While cards will usually work in x1 slots too (supposedly) It would still cause problems since they take 2 slots.

meaning you could get 3 cards in X370 and 2 in H81


so... no to both, on theoretical standpoint.

to get 6 cards in x370 but.... yeah, how you will attach them and get them to actually work... don't ask me, I'm not a miner.

Even without crossfire, they only have 3 PCIE slots. They are design for gaming not mining. So the max is 3 cards. For that he needs a Server Motherboard something like this,

Both mobos the OP linked have 6 PCIe slots. You'd just need to use risers with the x1 slots.

As I said, the mobos he linked have 6 PCIe slots, and he would obviously have to use extenders (which was brought up in the first reply in this thread). You know, like every other mining rig.

first,"TJ Hooker", "rgd1101" and gamer brothers,thank for reply,ya we knw about gpu risers,as u said both mobos have 6 PCIe slots,where asrock h81 pro bt r2.0 is dedicated mining board which offers out of the box 6 gpu support for both amd and nvidia.Where asus x370 also comes with those 6 PCIe slots,but lots and lots of people using gigabyte ab350 and msi x370 carbon boards are complaining abt only able to use less than 4 gpus at a time,most says bios issues and at the same time some other says its fine they r using all 6 no issues. Really Confusing.
So my question was is there anybdy using asus prime x370 with more than 4 gpus for mining?
its ok if u dont knw,we will hv to take our chances or go with asrock h81 pro bt r2.0.
and ya "rgd1101" , the Biostar TB350-BTC is not available where i live and no chances in near future.

Is its ok to run asus prime x370 + ryzen 1600 + 6 rx580 gpus on a "cooler master v1000".
please dont say seasonic,evga,corsair axi etc etc.they r very tough to get where i live.
As cooler master v1000 is also 1st tier,we r talking watts here. 1000w is sufficient or 1200w is needed?

well, on asus prime x370-pro and others, it seems that some X1 slots share bandwidth with the 3rd 16x slot, while this should be no issue since x4 reserved for that slot isn't used up completely, only two out of four, it might cause conflicts.
For graphics cards, this might be an issue, card wanting to reserve as much as it can and thus kicking x1 slots offline. (this is pure speculation though)

where the h81 doesn't say anything like that (and has only one x16 slot)

So if unsure and don't want to test, I would recommend old H81.

Also for the PSU, X580 is tested to take up to 230W on max load, times 6 makes it bit over 1200W.

Yes, it could work on 1000W supply but.. if all six cards are fully loaded, I wouldn't bet on 1200W supply lasting alive either. (especially since there are more components on computer than GPU's.
