Hey all,

So I'm am trying to get together a little bit of cash around the Holiday times to build myself a new mediocre gaming PC after taking a long hiatus and living in Ghana for far too long. I'll start with saying that I have a case and fans and the like for that.

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: this week (the closer the better)

Budget Range: I'm looking to spend about $600 (+/- $50-$100)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: I'm going to use this primarily for gaming, AMRA II and the DayZ mod, maybe some Planetside 2, I really don't know yet I've been away from gaming for so long!

Are you buying a monitor: I have a monitor with a resolution capability of 1600x900 (Acer x203H, I will probably be updating that within the year to and HD LED)

Do you need to buy OS: I will purchase an OS on my own so no need for that.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I always used to use newegg back in the early 2000's (love the free ground shipping!), but I'm game for any website since I've been gone so long.

Location: City, State/Region, Country - I'm a little ways from Albany, NY

Parts Preferences: Anything goes, I have no idea whats what anymore.

Overclocking: Maybe, any cheap decent cooling systems out there? I'll consider overclocking CPU and GPU but not necessary.

SLI or Crossfire: Yes / No / Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: currently have 1600x900 but as I stated I'll be upgrading within the year to something more like 1920x1080

Additional Comments: As I stated I have a case with a window so thats covered, I am primarily looking to game out with this on nothing to crazy but I want something that can at least run the games these days (my last build was in 2003 I think? Shes a little outdated...) Also I have a WD Caviar Black 1TB hdd so I don't need any storage either!

I'm open to any suggestions, as I said I have some experience in building but it has been many many years. All of the brands have changed over the past decade so I have no real preference, just need some advice and help from those that know whats happening. I thank you all in advance and hope I can get some good information from this!

Thanks!

Jeff

Hey, with your budget you probably have to drop ocing option, but you will be able to run those games even without it.

Here's the build

Indeed it does! :) I can't wait to have a PC, let a lone a PC with some damn power again! Thank you very much for the help butremor!

On a side note, I would just like to make sure that I get everything. I have a case with at least 6 or 8 fans laying around here somewhere. I've got a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. So looking over everything, I just need a heat sync and fan for the CPU and some thermal compound and I should be set with everything right? Thanks again for the assistance!

Jeff

Haha definitely overkill, from when I was a young lad back in the day. No need for my computer to be louder than my vacuum cleaner these days. You all rock and I can't thank you enough for helping me get back into this!

Jeff

The CPU will have a heatsink and fan on it, the GPU will have another. The PSU will have one to exhaust air out of the case, then have one on the case pulling air in. That should be fine for most systems. That's pretty much how my airflow works and my case has almost no ventilation. I even took one of the fans off my CPU cooler and have everything running on the lowest fan speed and it's fine.

So I have been shopping around and figured this will be my setup... what do you guys think?
