Hey guys im currently sitting on a very old 60hz monitor. I mainly play Games like CS , Valorant and League. I guess it is time now to get a new monitor and im wondering if i should update straight to 240hz or go for 144hz? I heard many ppl say 240hz is overkill for non semi-pro/pro gamers (im diamond/immo in valo and faceit lvl7 so a solid casual gamer).
Im seeing only 100€ diffrence between 144hz and 240hz monitors and just wanted to ask here what ur advice would be.

It depends on what your components are. Not necesarely but ideally you'd want 240fps to take advantage of a 240hz monitor and that's almost impossible to get on top games with great graphics but on the ones you listed you can get them with a good GPU. I went from 60hz to 120hz and it's incredibly smooth. I didnt imagine it will be such a big difference. I'd get the 144hz and keep the money but that's just my opinion. 144hz is already great enough. Anything but just move away from the 60hz, you won't realise how awful it is for gaming until you try a monitor with more hz. But keep in mind with higher refresh rates especially on VA panels you could get brightness flickering which I got myself even if the monitor has g-sync technology and it's bothering in some games. IPS panels have less but they have awful blacks. Research about the model you want to buy and see if it suffers from brightness flickering.

If your system is up to it I don’t see why not just go €100 more and get the 240Hz. A monitor can last many systems and I reckon you will always wonder should you have gone 240Hz. The types of game you are playing are those that can benefit although not everyone can tell.

Ultimately there is no wrong answer. To me €100 is negligible in comparison to the cost of the whole gaming setup and it’s a bit of hardware that should last a long time.
