Hi, i've tried to find a solution to a problem i have been having but it
has been fruitless uptil now, hopefully somebody here can help me.

Recently i updated to Windows 7 (Ultimate) 64 Bit, to get rid of the
3 GB RAm limit on 32 Bit, as you can guess before it was 3.00 GB Usable
now it is 3.87 GB usable, everything works fine but there are a few problems.

My system specs are,
Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz
4 GB RAM (3.87 Usable)
Nvidia Geforce GT 220

I know my "rig" isn't all that much but it runs the games i want it to run, atleast it did.
Since i updated to 64 bit, certain games are lagging, GTA IV lagging to much,
Spec Ops The Line lags, reminder these two games did not lag before, but they are
lagging badly now. While on the other hand certain games are running smoothly,
no lag or anything .. So why are the games which used to run perfectly before on 32 Bit
lagging now? while others are running without a problem, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The "bitness" shouldn't matter. I went from 32bit to 64bit and had no problems. (rig even had 4GBs at the time, so not sure what Rolli is claiming.) I'm still guessing you have a bad copy of windows. Probably has virus in it and that's causing the slow downs. A clean/good copy of windows should run just fine. (assuming you aren't having a temp problem or something like that.)

What's probably happening is the OS is using more RAM for normal operation, leaving less free for games to use. As a result, you are seeing more paging, which is dominated by HDD performance and KILLS in-game performance. That's why 8GB is considered normal for 64-bit systems.

You can use the Performance Monitor to check this; check to see what RAM usage looks like, and how much HDD activity is going on.
