64- bit operation system, x64-based processor. but on 32-bit.

I have windows 10 pro 64-bit. and x64 processor but computer is running on 32 bit. would like to know how to change so I can use my hardware to the fullest.

Specs:

MSI 970 Gaming Mobo
R9 200 Series (290x)
AMD FX-8300
Windows 10 Pro
1TB HDD
Corsair CX750M PSU

You'll have to do a clean install of 64 bit. Which means you'll have to wipe whats on the hdd now

You cant upgrade from 32 to 64 bit.

But whatever devices you have, make sure they've got 64 bit drivers. You cant install 32 bit drivers in 64 bit windows

I am running 64 bit windows, and all of my programs are 32 bit and my computer is limited my CPU cores and my RAM like its a 32 bit.
I had 16gbs of ram in my computer but took 8 out because it was hardware reserving it (as if its a 32bit pc).

If you see below, it says 8-cores. (even search it up) but my computer is only allowing 4 because of 32 bit. I dont understand.

So you had 2 x 8 GB sticks in the slots? I see the mobo has 4 ram slots and supports up to 32 GB

Is the BIOS up to date? Looks like that's up to M.4

Did you install the ram in the right slots?? If you install the 16 GB does the BIOS detect 16 GB?

If the 8300 is similar to the 8350, if it shows 4 cores in windows, this is normal

From what I know it has its own L2 cache, I think i've seen that in the bios. Its only using 4 cores. Before I reinstalled windows 10 it said 8 cores. now its only saying 4. there is a problem somewhere. Yes the ram is in the right spots. Its saying 8gb for system reserve thats a 32 bit thing. But my computer is 64 bit. quite annoying and cant find any similar threads.

Hmm looks like a lot of people have this same prob with different mobos. Some of them managed to fix it by changing the speed of the ram in the BIOS

After ramping up the DRAM speed from 1333 to 1600 it fixed it. It didn't work at first but modified the voltage a bit and it works like a charm. Thanks!
