Approximate Purchase Date: Sometime soon, can't say for sure.

Budget Range: $650 Before Rebates; After Shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Sony Vegas = Photoshop > Some very light gaming (Minecraft, Poker Night 2, Audiosurf) > Writing very long documents > Music / Browsing.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Do you need to buy OS: Yes (Windows 7)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: PC Part Picker List please.

Location: Tennessee, U.S.

Parts Preferences: It would be cool to have an Nvidia graphics card or Intel Proccessor for Vegas based on what I hear, but it definitely won't be a make it or break it deal. I won't care either way, just give me the best for my money, no sacrificing other parts for one of the above lol.

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: Don't remember what these mean, but I'll be using two monitors if possible.

Your Monitor Resolution: Not sure. 21 In. Wide Screen Monitor and 20 In Wide Screen I found laying around, going to connect them both.

The 21 in. will be for Vegas, Shop, or Game while the 20 in will be used for music, browsing, and chat programs (That way I don't have to minimize my game or programs)

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:

I make Animash videos and draw cartoon characters (Kung fu Panda, Rio, Alpha and Omega type of characters) for fun while going to college for Video Production.

The laptop I'm using currently is choppy in the preview even in the lowest settings, and sometimes it doesn't even render my effects out properly. I used a cookie cutter effect and put a background behind a clip, and the cookie cutter effect didn't even render out. The video showed the clip how it was before the effect.

My current laptop.

Solution
An amd cpu would be better at this budget. Vegas can use opencl or cuda so you can go with either amd or nvidia.
