65w and 90w AC Adapter

my old ac adaptor got distroyed and now i bought a new but it is of 65W.
i am usind dell inspiron 15R 5520 i3
is it ok to use 65w adapter instead of 90w.
\quickset says you are using 65w ac adaptar your computer will work slowly and battery will not charge.
but it charged fully and laptop was working well.
but i want to confirm that is it ok? to use 65W adapter instead of 90W please help me.

If it works, it should be fine, but your battery will probably take much longer to charge, and the computer may have stability issues if you load it. Have you tried running an intensive workload with the adapter plugged in? The peak power consumption of the i3 wouldnt leave much of a power margin with a 65W supply. The computer may become unstable or restart.
 


i tried yesterday, and i played game for a long time fifa world on origin. and it was working fine. and battery got charged same as old adapter in same time. but quickset is showing a dialogue.
now tell me.
 


If the computer is working fine outside of quickset complaining, I think you answered your own question. The power management circuitry on the board is probably just not detecting a high enough current to report the battery as charging. If the adapter is a cheap one, however, it may be outputting a greater power than it is designed to -- make sure the adapter brick isn't getting too hot.
