65W Cooler on 95W CPU

Can I use a 65W CPU cooler on a 95W CPU? More specifically, an old Intel stock cooler from a 65W Pentium G630 on a 95W i5-2500K. I won't be overclocking. I know the temps would be a lot higher than normal, but is it safe to do it? Maybe I could limit it's speed, but I only have a cheap H61 motherboard from an HP computer, so I don't know if I could do that.

Solution
You can use any cooler that fits. 2500K should come with a workable stock cooler.

Do not worry too much about heat.
Intel chips will slow down or shut off if they detect dangerous temperatures.
That is around 100c.

If your temperatures under load are occasionally 85c, that is ok.

If you have 160mm height available for a cooler, there are many good ones out there.
I particularly like the scythe kotetsu, about $35

65w is just the power consumption. It doesnt reflect the cooling capabilities of the cooler for the CPU.

As long as it has the same mounting system as the current cooler installed, and the same connector for the mobo, then it will work.

Better coolers will use more wattage, and Id recommend you getting a aftermarket cooler. If you just want better temps, the Cooler Master Hyper T2 is a good budget option that will fit most smaller rigs.
