660 sli (not ti) vs. 780

So I'm building a new desktop and alli need is my gpu. I want to be on the higher end of things but I'm still trying to save some money. I can't really figure out if I should go with two 660s or a single 780. Or even a 770 4gb or a 280x. I want something that can handle next gen games around very high or even ultra resolutions. And of course crysis 3 on ultra would be nice too. Any suggestions?

a 770 4gb is easily enough.
a 780 will max everything on 1080p on a single screen without even hard work 😉

Thanks a ton! And if the 280x actually went back down to $300 and was in stock, do you think mantle will bring the performance up to something like a gtx 780? If not then I might just stick with the 780. And what's your recommended gtx 780 brand? I was thinking asus.

Thank you. That was exactly the information I was looking for. I've basically ruled out the 770 and I think I'll wait for mantle before I decide on the 780 or 280x/290.
