I just replaced my GTX 1070 with an AMD 6700XT, and one of the first things I noticed was that the card was hovering around 90 degrees on average when playing games and sometimes reaching 94-96 during sessions, although briefly. My old 1070 used to always sit around 70-80 during games, so this is quite the difference. I have a mid case which could be limiting airflow, but the case has 6 fans and the card has 3. I've put my hand on the top of the case where some of the fans are, and the metal around them is hot to the touch after playing for more than 30 minutes or so. I don't know if temps this high can be bad for the GPU/other parts of the computer, so I was wondering if anyone knew. I can also undervolt the GPU from the AMD software, but I've never done that before and don't know how much to undervolt it or if that's even needed. Thank you!

Those are indeed too HIGH temp values for sure. especially 94/96 C. Not normal. I would definitely find solutions to lower these Temp values down. Are you sure the GPU fans are spinning properly ?

Have you tried creating a custom FAN profile via any GPU tool like MSI Afterburner. Check the Airflow inside the ATX cabinet once again. Which GPU brand and model is the RX 6700 XT ?

Thank you for the advice! I was looking at the fans in the AMD software and realized that they weren't spinning that fast relative to how fast they could be spinning. When playing games, they only got to around 1200RPM. I downloaded MSI Afterburner like you mentioned and set a fan curve, and instantly things started to improve. Now the fans go around 2000-2200RPM during games and the average temp has reduced from 90 degrees to 70. Hopefully that's all that was needed. Thanks again!

Wow, that's good to know. Yes, 70 C is a normal temp value. I'm glad to know your problem has been resolved so quickly. Happy Gaming ! :) Which GPU brand and model is the RX 6700 XT btw ?

Its a XFX Speedster QICK319 AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT. I'm not familiar with this brand, I guess its not a common one like MSI or EVGA. But it was a good deal compared to everything else when I found it so I went for it.

XFX is an okay-ish GPU brand. Not that good as Asus, MSI and others, but it's not THAT bad either. I think XFX card's build quality has been improved recently. Earlier few years back, there were a lot of XFX cards being returned for RMA. GPUs failing after few months of usage. Not sure how is the scene right now though.

I used one XFX GPU long back, almost 7-8 years ago, and the GPU was fried after few months of usage. Even other gamers were experiencing a similar problem at that time. So the issue was widespread. They might have improved the build quality now though.
