Hello there :)

So I got an old pc from a friend who upgraded because his coolant exploded over everything. I got it because I just wanted the really big case (it's one of those old NZXT ones from the early 2010s) and didn't have a gaming pc so thought i'd build one. But let the idea sit for a year.

It also came with a 1050 which i hoped would work.

I rebuilt the whole thing (all new parts everywhere bar my old SSD and Corsair TX650M (these were my parts and not part of the PC that exploded)).

The only thing left was the case and the 1050.

On boot I got a GPU error light on multiple occasions and it failed to ever work with just the 1050.

I dug out my old AMD 5570 and that did work (I've also since tried it on both PCIe slots and both work). I kinda expected the 1050 not to work as i'd moved like 3 times in a year and had slung it in a bag and ignored it, and also it had been part of the system that basically coolant exploded anyway.

So after realising the new PC was fine I went ahead and bought a much better graphics card (the 6800).

My specs are:

5600 CPU
32GB Corsair 3600 mhz Ram
TX650M PSU
MSI B550 Gaming Gen 3 Mobo.
XFX Qick 319 RX 6800

And basically I'm getting the GPU fail light again.

I've tried updating the drivers for everything.
I've changed the PCI power cables to new ones.
I've ripped everything out the back of the case to make sure nothing is impeding the massive card.
I've tried both PCIe slots multiple times (so i've resat the card into the slots on multiple occasions)
I've tried only plugging one PCI power cable into the card but got a light error on the card itself indicating not enough power. So I assume it's not a power issue.

But nothing seems to make it work (but then will work fine with the 5570).

The fans spin but on system manager it's only picking up the 5570, and i've removed the 5570 drivers. And it will not boot to post with the 5570 not in the system.

I'm very new to all this but what else can I try, or is this card dead? (are dead cards a regular thing?)

Thanks.

SOLVED IT. CMOS YOU BEAUTIFUL C CREATURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Panicked a wee bit when it wouldn't boot post BIOS and made an alarm noise but realised in my clearing of the back of the case there was a sata unplugged.

Thanks guys I know no one ever responded because i didn't give anyone time. But this website is incredible and found the answer elsewhere x
