6800GS Goes Like Hell 512MB

I've got a Gainward 6600GT but it hasn't quite got the oomph I'd like, games when on high settings are a little below par, frame rate wise. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this little number, looks like quite a beast for the money:

its a good card, the extra ram is a big help, but i have found this XFX GeForce 7600 GT XXX from http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/7300___7600_Series.html same sort of price and the 7600 gt is faster than the 6800 gs, as shown here: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/nvidia_geforce_7600_gt_performance/default.asp

It looks okay but for the price IMO there is better out there:

X1800xl is a better card than an oc 6800gs for the same price

I dont think the extra memory is going to make a differnce on the gs.

Well Here is a review of the card it is between 10-20% faster than the stock gs. That isnt bad but for the price there is better.

not bad at all, i thought the ram would help, but my vote still goes for 7600 gt, i think its the best for the money.

I agree the 7600GT is a nice card and would take that over the 6800gs 512mb especialy as the 7600 is the cheaper card.

I would though take the x1800xl over both of them as its the same price as the GS and performs better than the 7600gt.

If you want to stick with nvidia then thats your choice but price/performance the x1800 wins.

i have to agree, the x1800xl would be the best one to get manily cos that one is just so cheap, its moments like this that i wish i had pci-e

I try to avoid looking at prices of cards know, its depressing seeing decent cards at cheap prices not long afteryou have bought a not too old ok ish card.

Yeah the review Only Me posted seems show the 7600GT is one hell of a card, and in many cases beats the X1800 GTO. The 1800 XL, on the other hand seems to be a little more expensive the the 7600GT, and I'd probably want to save a little more and get the XT anyway, and even then the 1900XT isn't far away.

I dunno... the 7600 GT is the one calling my name now I think, that review kinda clinched it, I didn't realise how good a card it actually was till I read that.

Still, that gainward 6800GS 512MB is pretty impressive, but probably not as good value as the 7600.

I'll shut up now, I'm waffling on a bit!!

Actually, on second thoughts, you guys are right, that Hightech 1800XL does seem like a good buy, hell of a price, never really heard of the company before though.

I don't care whether I have nVidia or ATI, but seeing as the 1800XL can do AA and HDR at the same time I think I'll be going for that instead of the 7600GT now.

This card will run all the latest games with all features on with 30+ frame rates won't it??

Now where's my credit card??

LOL yes the x1800xl is a cracking price at the moment its cheaper than the x1800gto which is inferieror.

HIS are fine, I would not worry. Run along go buy one of them

Anyone want to buy a 6600GT, it's really very good, only about 5-6 weeks old and therefor still shiny!

Can't wait to see how it performs, my 6600 was pretty good, but it's upsetting to see those high settings just sitting there.

And does anyone know why F.E.A.R. doesn't have a 1280 x 1024 resolution setting, it's really annoying now I'm using an LCD display? Didn't really bother me before.
