6850k vs 5930k , which one is better? (mostly gamin)

Hi all,

Just wanted to know which one is better for my gaming build? (using h115i w/cooling)

5930k can be OCed higher than 6850k , more stable, and cooler.

6850k has turbo, best single core performance that used in games, but higher in temp, n less stable.

Plz help

If the prices are comparable, go for the newest 6850K, then you won't spend all your time looking over your shoulder wondering if you did the right thing lol. Both are awesome CPU's, so you can't go wrong either way, but I'd take the latest one.

both are excellent. if you can get the 6850k for a similar price i would jump on it but if you can save a few bucks to spend elsewhere on your rig with the 5930k (say for better GPU or higher quality PSU or a bigger SSD/m.2)...it may well be worth it. Also if your dead set on the highest overclock again the i7 5930k may be a better choice.

Unless you're looking to run Quadfire / Quad SLI (which the GTX 1080 does not support), there's little reason to go with a 6850k / 5930k over a 6800k / 5820k. The extra PCIe lanes make virtually no difference to performance.

so you suggest go for the 6850k.

By the way any recommendations for a good x99 mobo with minimal issues ( DOA , failures rate ) and has more that 6 fans ports. I know its all about luck but you know good brands should have less failures rate.

no for the time being I'll go single gtx1080 maybe in future add 1 more n thats it. and for the 6800k, it has issues with high temp when OCed. unlike the 6850k with less heat is issues.

I have no issues with high temps whatsoever on a 4.4ghz overclock with the 6800k, but I'd like to know where you have this information from?

The 6800K and 6850K are the same CPU, one just has some PCIe lanes disabled and is $200 cheaper.

Here it is, pls refer to temp n bottom line section for each CPU ,6850k runs cooler than 6800k and haswell beats both in terms of OCing stability and temp.

It's almost certainly just normal variation. There's as much chance it'd be the other way around.
