Hey there Forum,
I have recently (about half an hour ago) installed a second ATI 6870 and I am now running them in CrossFireX. One of them is Sapphire and the other HIS, both with stock heatsinks and fans. My case is a CoolerMaster HAF-932 with all of its fan brackets filled (stock fans + a 140mm). The idle temperatures with all ATI settings at default - standard core clock, standard memory clock, auto-fan speed (30% on idle), both cards are at a toasty 66C. I almost don't want to run any games on them because it will heat up a lot more. Also, I can manually force the fan to spin at a much higher rate but it is really loud and unbearable for the others in the room.
So, is 66C too high for an idle temperature? What can I do to reduce it without making heaps of loud noises?
Thanks,
