So, in a few months i'm building a new PC for gaming and video making. I'm gonna get broadwell-e rather than the very newest one because i don't think it's worth it. But i can't decide between the 6950x and the 6900k. Both have very similar clock speeds so the 6950x seems like the better choice but what do you guys think? Thanks!

No I don't want threadripper. I have everything planned out and I'm not gonna revamp everything to change processors. Besides I've had nothing but trouble from amd products both cpu's a graphics cards

just a thought. with new tech coming out and whatnot you'd have no upgrade path. zen archetecture will expand for a long time. and intels cpu's will be better. how long do you want this to last? buying a broadwell based pc now is throwing money away. but hey, if you had a bad experience before :shrugs: its your money.

The (somewhat) stupid 6950X still costs $1500+ compared to the 7900X at $999, and, is slightly slower to boot...at least the 6900K only has 2 less cores than the 7900X, and costs only $200 more than 7900X as well. Both options seem ludicrous, solely for gaming, IMO...

On the positive side, each of the above is still beaten in most games by the 8700K, but, at least you can say you have 8-10 cores doing it.

Okay. But I meant the 6850k. I thought you meant this cpu.

I am looking for some advise for an offer I got
