Is there good news from this?
Such as Intel becoming a viable 3rd player? GPU companies hiring top talent to increase the rate of performance and architecture in each graphics card generation? Fabs improving manufacturing faster than normal? Overall larger improvements per generation?

Good news? Sure, if you're AMD or Nvidia or one of their partners -- or if you own stock in one of those companies. LOL. Basically, the GPU companies made lots of money during the past several quarters, probably large chunks of it thanks to GPU miners. More money in theory means more investment in R&D, so long-term maybe our GPUs get better at a faster rate. But if you want to just buy a GPU for gaming purposes, you're SOL.
