720p gaming gpu

Hi all,
This question is probably asked alot but anyway....
I was planning on purchasing a Msi gtx 760 tf, but unfortunately I realised that my monitor is only 720p.

I want to play most games at high-ultra settings at about 60fps

Would this card be complete overkill? If so could you guys surgest a different card, no more than £180.

I don't want to buy a new monitor so gpus only please :)
