Hi guys, I was about to buy a gtx 770 when i saw the release of the gtx 760 ti. Obviously the 760 ti is weaker but at 259.99, I was thinking that I could SLI two 760 ti instead of buying a gtx 770 for 399.99. I saw some benchmarks and two 760 ti in SLI are pretty impressive. So i wanted to know if this is a good idea since the performance in some games beats a Titan in 1080p or is SLI just a bad idea. Past experiences from people who SLI'd before would be helpful.

Thanks in advance :)

SLI has come a long way from where it started, I personally built my current gaming computer with a single GTX 580 when it first came out and a year later added a second 580. I was surprised how easy it was to setup and immediately saw a huge fps gain (pretty much double) in games. Obviously there are drawbacks to SLI. Make sure you have a big enough power supply and a motherboard that supports SLI. I personally haven't had any issues with with my SLI setup and have been running it for over a year. Also, buy cards with the blower style coolers or you will have a ton of heat buildup in your case.

Thanks for the reply, would two 4gb 760s make a difference perfomance wise than two 2gb 760s ?

I will only be using 1 monitor 24'' at 1080p.

Buy the 2gb version of the gtx 760.
You need the extra GPU memory when you use 3 monitors or 3D.When 1 monitor at 1080p you are ok.Tell us your full build and we will tell you if you need to upgrade also PSU or CPU.

ok my build is:

Asus Sabertooth z77
intel i5 3570k with hyper 212 +
Apevia 800w psu
Rosewill Blackhawk mid atx
G skill ripjaws x 2x4gb
500gb WD black

If i where you i would invest a bit more money and buy a better power supply you really dont want to go cheap on the component thats going to be powering your entire system.

I wasn't implying that the psu was underpowered but implying that a better quality psu with better components: capacitors, single rail, and a better rating because after looking up that PSU I did not see many good reviews and noticed that it was not even bronze rated so i doubt that it hold efficiency. I myself run 770 in sli with a corsair 750hx. I just think you don't want your components powered by a crap psu remember that if you use crap you run a higher risk of damaging components.

Cheapo PSUs can cause instability, random reboots, and possibly hardware damage because of electric surges, spikes, sags, and such. Quality PSUs tend to have better build, better components, surge/sag protection, and provide stable and clean electricity. Cheapo ones might be rated for 800 watt, but that might only be maximum output at something like 25 C, which is not the operating temperature in real use. So beware.

Can't disagree with you on that.
