I set my target frequency to 5ghz on my 7700k in the bios and it boots fine but when i check cpu z it doesnt go above 4.5ghz (even under load) it also says in the "avanced" tab of my bios that the max cpu speed is 4200mhz

Hello Jalley!

How do you test your CPU? "Under load"?
Did you try opening CPU-Z two times und use one window to monitor the frequenzy and the other to do the stresstest (second last tab "Bench")?

What are your BIOS Settings?
- BCLK
- Multiplier
- Vcore (Core Voltage)

my multiplier is 50 at 3.75 or 3.8 volts (ive tried both) and ive done the stress cpu thing in cpu z and no results. still 4.4ghz

There is no way that your voltage is that high, you would fry the CPU. Double check your voltage.
For reference 1.20-1.40v is a common voltage range for modern i7s. Typically you tweak centivolts(the hundreths place) and decivolts(the tenths place).
What is your baseclock setting?

oh shoot i meant 1.375 and 1.38 but ive also tried dropping the multiplier to 4.7 and the voltage to 1.3. my temps were under 70 and cpu usage was at constant 100%
