I went with the much older r9 280 as it is way faster than the 960 and a bit faster than the newer r9 285
As drivers have been advancing it really performs as well as the GTX 770.

If you want to include shipping or gear the machine more towards pure gaming and less balanced, I could choose parts like that as well.

It sure will, but the gpu you chose is very underpowered in comparison and the same price 2 models of that gpu would be required to hit the performance of the original card at the same price.. The RAM you choose costs more but does nothing different.

The cpu is 30 dollars cheaper in my build. Same cpu though. Actually everything from my build is cheaper by a longshot, 30 dollars on the cpu and 30 dollars on the mobo. Why is that?
 


it is because sadly I live in Canada and actually these are pretty much the same things just more expensive. 🙁
