780 or R9 290. Also which one of the 2?

I'm looking to buy this Thursday as I just sold my 2 6850's. I need to pick a card and manufacturer.

i would go with the 780 as it has better software perks, adaptive vsync, gsync, and shadowplay if you use fraps(no performance hit while recording)
the 290 has driver issues/support in some games
imho go with 780 tried and true and no headaches

780 definately. i personally dont like the aftermarket coolers companies use. the vent hot air directly into your case, which im not cool with. a reference superclocked evga gtx 780 is an awesome choice. i have that but in a 780 ti and its a boss. with a tweaked fan profile i am still able to overclock from 1125 mhz to 1249 at 68 degrees

I am personally an AMD fan, but I have GPUs from both AMD and NVIDIA. If you are buying AMD, I recommend XFX or MSI. If you are buying NVIDIA, I recommend EVGA.

This model is big and bulky and sometimes doesn't fit in cases, but for the money it's a beast of a card it can overthrow the Titan in some cases.
