I've had my PC for about 7 months now. Everything's been fine until now. On two separate occasions in the last month Windows (7) has automatically forced its self into the basic theme mode while doing random things like internet browsing. When this happens I can hear my 780 ti making some pretty serious coil whine. Should I be worried? / Is my card dying or what? I noticed my CPU usage went up and stayed high until I restarted too - could this be from my graphics card giving up and my CPU taking over? (i7 4770k not overclocked).

- I haven't made any changes to or moved my set up since building it
- I tried updating to the latest drivers (this happened before I did that too)
- I ran a full system scan on avg & malwarebytes but found nothing
- I can't RMA the card

These are the exact details of my card: 3GB EVGA GTX 780Ti Superclocked, 28nm, PCIe 3.0 (x16), 7000MHz GDDR5, GPU 980MHz, Boost 1046MHz, Cores 2880, DP/ HDMI

🙁

Solution
Complete uninstall of the display drivers and reinstall freshly.

Your PSU may be failing to deliver proper power to the card, which could either be coil whine, or capacitor squeal.

The GPU may be dying from defect stretching.
