so i currently have a 780 ti acx and im wondering if i should sli since there so cheap now or should i see mine and get a 980 ...i know theres not a big jump other then the extra gig of vram..or should i look to upgrade somthing else on my pc?

my specs are
cpu-fx 8150 black edtion
ram- 8gb of dominator gt
gpu- 780ti acx
240 ssd and 1 terabyte hdd
850 rm series powersupply
monitor is a asus 2560x1440p

this is a gaming system and my cpu is liquid cooled on a 120 closed loop rad

Solution
probably an extra 780ti

you might feel relief by knowing that with the new upcoming direct x version.,.,.,.,.,you will be able to add up the vram of multiple grafix card that are in sli

780ti gives 88% of the performance of 980.,.,.,so obviously 2 x 780ti is better

so your saying just sli for not? if i sli ill just wait a few gens till maybe the 1000 series or 1100

It will depend on the resolution and graphics card you are using. If you are doing 1440p, 2-way sli with AMD will not be the same as 2-way sli with intel. DX12 might change that when it comes out, but until then, newer GPUs will be too fast for that FX and they will be held back. SIngle 780 ti, though, maybe no difference, maybe 5-10 FPS difference. It depends on the games you play. Check out this thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2361806/amd-8150-evga-gtx-970.html

im not seeing what im supposed to read in that link and what about sli what would be the fps diff and right now with one 780ti i have no issues just looking to upgrade.
