7870 radeon idle temp

ok my gpu runs 40 C on idle is it normal ?
it goes to 85 C when gaming
whats the danger temp ?
which one is better 660 or 7870

cause i am thinking to buy 660 for my second pc

40c is a reasonably idle temp.
85c is quite warm and just about the warning area.

The GTX660 and 7870 are very close with the 7870 slightly winning.

Temps look a bit high.. Something to keep an eye on. Have you overclocked your card?
Mine's OC'd to 1250mhz and 1300mem with voltage boost. And i don't surpass 70c in games and about 35-40c idle.

Do you have push/pull config? how's the airflow?

Yes i cap my frames, you should always cap them or else your gfx card is going to overwork for no reason, human eye can't see anything past 60frames
