I know that the 7900GTX is a lot more expensive, but If you could get one of them and lets say that they cost the same which one is better?
I will not be using SLI.
Both great cards. If you are going to spend that much look over the games that matter to you. For me, the X1900XT wins where it counts most and OpenEXR HDR/FSAA together is something worth having. (jaggies drive me nuts nowadays).
Okay, potentially newb-ish question, but what graphics benchmarks out there (since I've not seen any Oblivion specific ones yet) will represent well how a graphics card will run ESIV, as opposed to just giving a general idea of how good it'll be (to clarify, since I think that was about as clear as mud: since different bench's based on different games and applications will show different cards as having advantages, which ones represent the relative performance on Oblivion the best?)?
And observe the FPS results at the highest resolution you wish to game at like 1600x1200 or 1900x1200 dpi at full quality ... that is only what matters, lower fps makes no difference, since they higher than noticable by the eye/brain/concious detection.
I really enjoy seeing the performance of my X1800XT beating the newest nVidia 7900GTX in quite a few benchmarks!
And really enjoy the colors and graphics look and feel too...
