Looking to pick up a monitor while I wait to purchase a 7900XTX.

my desk is only 19” wide so getting some crazy big monitor doesn’t make sense.

i comfortably use a 24” 1080p right now. I can’t see going over 27 or 28”.

with the above in mind, is it a waste to get a 4k 144hz monitor? ($500-550 range)

shoud I stick with a 1440p, 170hz monitor? ($200-300)

or get a 1440p 240hz which is $500 and seems silly but I’m not well versed on this.

looking in person at microcenter I’m not sure I’m sold on curved over traditional flat. It seems weird on the eyes but I’m not used to it.

will be used 50/50 for faming

I recently went to a 1440p 32 inch curved. I had a 27 inch 1080p flat. In all honesty 27 inch seems to be a good place. But curved isn’t bad. As far as 4k I think the 7900xtx is a 4k card, but once you go to that resolution keep in mind it will likely take more horsepower to run it as you upgrade in the future so you may find yourself upgrading in say 2 years as opposed to 3-5.

i ordered a gigabyte m28u 4k 144hz monitor to lock in a black friday price on it from amazon but I can of course return it. I obviously dont even have a card that can run it yet.

What makes you say it will need to be upgraded every 2 years?

I’m just saying due to 4K. 4K is just likely going to be a lot more demanding to run then 1080p or 1440p. As new games arrive they’ll likely try to take advantage of the power the new gpus have. But that said it seems like the last generation or 2 of gpus has really had good improvements so I might be wrong at this point. Just the higher you push the resolution the harder the gpu will need to work to deliver the higher quality graphics settings.

That said the 7900xtx should be a beast of a card. It will be interesting to see reviews. With that screen your games should look great.
