7950 Vapor X vs. EVGA GTX 960 ?

Im currently using the Vapor X 7950 , and am planning on getting GTA V , so would the GTX 960 be a downgrade or an upgrade , performance wise?

It would a downgrade. 2GB Vram on 960 wont be enough to play GTA V. Also your 7950 Aka R9 280 is fast as 960.

If you really want an upgrade, get a R9 290 4GB, its around 250$.

Thanks for the quick response.One more question.Could the 8210 fx be bottlenecking the Vapor X? I feel it has much more to give but is being held back.

FX-8120 is old bulldozer core and clocked at only 3.1ghz. Its slow for today standards, even i3 would be faster. Anyway, its holding down your 7950, depending what game are you playing. Overclocking can help though.

You can get a better CPU cooler (like 212 Evo) and push it to 3.8 or even 4ghz.

Best thing would be that you get some H97 + i5. That would be an upgrade. Going from fx 8120 to 8350 wont be that huge, especially if gaming is your main thing.

about 200-250 $ , I guess I could give it another month and get the H97 and an i5 . I thought that 7950 wasnt really cutting it anymore , turns out ye olde fx wasnt as good as I though it was.Thanks again!

A FX 8350 would still be an upgrade if you can overclock it. But that depends on your motherboard and cpu cooler.
