Hi guys,
I'd like to know which graphic card would be better for me as i want a card who will last long and be good for future modern games. I play games like bf3, arma, metro 2033, planetside 2, skyrim etc. My monitor is 1600x900 and my build contain an i3-3220 and 8 gb of 1600 ram. I want a clear answer please .
My friend said warranty/service/drivers suck on ati cards but others say ati is better than nvidia
These are the card i want:

Gigabyte 7950 (283$): http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11830BD3894

Gigabyte 660 ti OC (267$): http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11830BD8287&vpn=GV-N66TOC-2GD&manufacture=GIGABYTE

Thanks

You have posted data that contradicts what I have said....as have I with you.

There truly is no end to this beyond degenerating into petty insults and sarcastic comments (which really never come across that well in written form).

In an attempt to find some resolution to what we are debating I will state that neither the 660 ti nor the 7950 is a bad choice relative to their respective prices or even when compared to each other.

Given the nature of driver releases and bugs associated with new games, any one of these two cards can come out on top depending on the specific circumstances...
I couldn't find a chart for the Gigabyte version, but the ASUS Direct CU II is close enough.

when all is said and done, both cards give equal performance for their cost. people can debate about drivers, specific games and overclocking until the cows come home

any warranty/service issue would be dependant on the gpu but the manufacturer ie gigabyte, MSI, asus ect, so its rather erronous to place blame on either camp for those problems. bottom line is you get what you pay for; since you are looking at two gigabyte cards i would believe the quality of warranty and service would be the same.

AMD has a not so stellar of a reputation for the drivers they have put out in the past but have gotten much better in the last 3 or so months. but i really don't think they need the PR campain that has been going on lately. nVidia has also beeen releasing drivers that enhance the performance of keplar rather steady in the meantime also.

so its up to you, with two things to consider, if you want raw performance and a wide memory bus because your using multi monitor or high MSAA of 8x or more than the 7950 is better. but if you have a single monitor (and i see that it is lower in resolution) and like to tweak settings with TXAA and multigrid super sampling in Nvidia inspector than the 660ti is a great choice.
<stirring the pot>
in the meantime, i wanna see if someone wants to meantion latency . .

Ever heard of bang for the buck?? You forget that the kepler cards have autoboost...so there is nothing stock about that correct? Potential my friend potential!! Overclocking is your friend!

The thing is Physx is a joke and overclocking is not!

I was just about to say that exact thing BigMack, I always find you in these threads too, lol... It seems no one is able to google anymore.

AMDs drivers have gotten much better lately, they used to be terrible. And the 7950 is a more powerful card that's actually supposed to be more in line with a 670

edit: But the 7950 did have that microstuttering problem brought up recently, but AMD said they are already working on a driver update, I'm not sure if it's a major deal though.

If i don't plan on overclocking ( cause i don't want to blow up my computer cause its my first) and that the 660 ti is already overclocked... Which on will give best fps, will last longer and will handle coming game better? I want it to max games for 2-3 years.

Edit: does i3 enough to play mp games like bf3 and incoming quad core games?
Or should i get an i5 and downgrade the gpu
(Please don't answer by something else/benchmark :) i saw all of them already)

LOL dude how is it stock when there is autoboost?? So you mean its fine to compare a stock 7950 to an autoboosted 660ti??

done to death this is lol!

a 660ti for your need will be fine, next time use the search function because its like a rerun in here and everyone seems to be pissed lol!

Really it come down to what you going to use the card for
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/550?vs=647
Will have been more helpful if i knew what game or what you going to do with the card

Chill dude. Look all benches with an "autoboost" GTX is what I am talking about. A GTX660ti is stock if you take the autoboost into account. You can't say it has been OCd. Since the reviews take the boost into account, why are you complaining?

I do see where you are coming from but you can't say not to compare them if that is what you HAVE to do for people who are not interested in OCing.

Benchmarks using the latest drivers. Regarding the 7950 vs the 660 ti.....the 7950 can beat out the 660 ti while using higher AA settings.

In addition to this, these benchmarks show 7950's at stock clocks. The large overclocking headroom of the 7050 should increase its lead even further.

From HardOCP - "The most interesting stand out from this evaluation has been the NVIDIA GTX 660 Ti, which is priced significantly higher than the Radeon HD 7870 while turning in similar performance numbers. The GTX 660 Ti has lost its value at this point in time, lending way to the Radeon HD 7950 which has benefited from falling prices and new drivers."
