Hi guys,
I'd like to know which graphic card would be better for me as i want a card who will last long and be good for future modern games. I play games like bf3, arma, metro 2033, planetside 2, skyrim etc. My monitor is 1600x900 and my build contain an i3-3220 and 8 gb of 1600 ram. I want a clear answer please .
My friend said warranty/service/drivers suck on ati cards but others say ati is better than nvidia
These are the card i want:

Gigabyte 7950 (283$): http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11830BD3894

Gigabyte 660 ti OC (267$): http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11830BD8287&vpn=GV-N66TOC-2GD&manufacture=GIGABYTE

Thanks

You have posted data that contradicts what I have said....as have I with you.

There truly is no end to this beyond degenerating into petty insults and sarcastic comments (which really never come across that well in written form).

In an attempt to find some resolution to what we are debating I will state that neither the 660 ti nor the 7950 is a bad choice relative to their respective prices or even when compared to each other.

Given the nature of driver releases and bugs associated with new games, any one of these two cards can come out on top depending on the specific circumstances...

Drivers

For the AMD based cards we are using the Catalyst 12.11 Beta 6 driver which was released after October 23rd, 2012 and the latest CAP.

For the NVIDIA based cards, we are using the ForceWare 310.33 Beta driver which was released on October 23rd, 2012.
jesus! the drivers were old even for the review . .feh.

ah, there are now Catalyst 12.11 beta 11 and ForceWare 310.70 WHQL . . . like i said before, people can talk about drivers, which change at a blink of an eye, and overclocking, which is not guaranteed, until the cows come home. those are two variables that constantly change.

Is there a single 7950 that doesn't OC to 1050-1100?

Those values are always achieved by 7950 users.

Those hardocp benchmarks are of highest playable setting not apples to apples. They are using old geforce driver.Current one gives huge boost to BF3.

You know this right that 90 percent of people buying gpu runs at stock speed.Handful of guys coming in forum to ask about OC is minority. Not to forget still no compnay RMA your card for OC damage. They just say its OC friendly but they don't give warranty.

why yes, yes i can find one (and now two).

Maximum Overclock Comparison

ASUS HD 7950 DC II Max. GPU Clock 1000 MHz

and the MSI HD 7950 TF III 1020 MHz that is listed under the ASUS in the table . . shall i find more?

:pfff:

The following benchmarks use the latest drivers for both 7950 and 660 ti.

Here we can see the 7950 is able to remain playable at higher settings while the 660 ti competes more with the 7870.

Once again, the 660 ti has features turned off to keep the pace.

and despite those, to use the conclusion:
Armed with that info, we can dispense with the talk about game bundles, rebates, and pricing shenanigans that might shift the value math in favor of one camp or another. Instead, we have a crystal clear recommendation of the GeForce GTX 660 Ti over the Radeon HD 7950 for this winter's crop of blockbuster games. Perhaps AMD will smooth out some of the rough patches in later driver releases, but the games we've tested are already on the market—and Nvidia undeniably delivers the better experience in them, overall.

Yes, you have found 1 site that recommends the 660 ti........yet other popular hardware sites such as Tom's Hardware and Hard OCP still continue to show the 7950's dominance in the latest games and are happy to recommend it as their first choice.

ih i fully understand those tables esp, using 2560x1600 resolution, which is popular . .NOT.

your ignorance of TXAA and using nVidia inspector for SGAA as opposed to MSAA makes any further discussoin just slightly more than amusing. you made some erroneous statements as far as "latest" drivers along with "minium" overclocking and posted some irrelant benchmarks @ 2560x1600.

if the 660ti wasn't any good, then why did AMD update the bios for the boost in the 7950 and drop the prices?

gee, and there still is a lag issue i haven't yet brought forth . . .

no, wasn't asking anything. but you now clearly demostrate a miscomprhension of sarcasm.

good luck with that and in the meantime take care.

No, you thought you had picked up a mistake in my choice of data and graphs. Once I had pointed out your mistake, you backed up and claimed it was sarcasm.

ok, if you say so, since everything you posted has been proven a fact, have at it.

oh so there is no mistake

At present, as you pointed out earlier, there are some issues with frame latency, however they are not noticeable to the majority of 79xx users. Also, AMD have stated they recognize this and will work on it for the next driver release.

Anyways, I thank you for the persistent and informed nature of your debating and look forward to seeing your comments in other threads (where we will no doubt disagree again  ).
