[SOLVED] 7th gen to 6th gen

Hello my current rig is an i3-7100, gigabyte h110 mobo, 8gb ram... I saw an i5-6400 sold as rush at around 80$ is it a viable cheap "upgrade"? Can my mobo support a change from 7th gen to 6th gen they are both 1151 right?

jupp, an h110 mobo should normally need new bios to support the 7th generation, so you are good to go. The should be a minor upgrade though, an I7 would prove more of an upgrade though.

Its a gigabyte h110m-h board, the seller well known in my city and is a legit one and has a 7 day personal warranty from him.

Well if you want to make sure that it fits together, pcparkpicker is always accurate in these kind of stuff.

Yeah it will even be a downgrade in quite a bunch of things since he will go from 3.9 on all cores to 3.3 on all cores.
