7vm400am-rz ..sata but no led

Hi ..
I have just built a system using a gigabyte 7vm400am-rz motherboard,sempron
2600+ and a western digital 160 GB SATA HDD.
However i am unable to get the LED on the case to light up, I have tried
both polarities on the LED and also tested the HDD LED by putting it in
place of the power LED and it did light up so I know the LED is ok.
Is the a normal occourence with SATA HARD DRIVES ???
Is there a soultion??

Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated

Can't say for that specific motherboard, but on a GA-8IK1100 the HDD LED
works OK with a pair of WD Raptor SATA drives in RAID-0.
