No, you can modify the memory bus speed in an i850 (RDRAM) chipset system. Hence you can modify the CPU's clockspeed. If you include the memory controller on the CPU die then the CPU manufacturer controls the memory bus speed. Thus, you cannot modify it to overclock your processor.

Raystonn is this speculation or do you have some evidence that AMD is going to limit overclocking with hammer?

I never claimed they would disable overclocking of the processor. I am saying though that if the memory controller is on the CPU die, you will not be able to overclock the memory bus. This offers them the opportunity to completely eliminate overclocking by locking their processor's multiplier if they so choose. Even if they choose not to do this, the days of overclocking the memory bus on AMD's processors will still be over.

If the memory controler is on the chip I would imagine overclocking the chip would also overclock the memory controler? Either way, multiplier overclocking is fine alone, and does not introduce stability issues nearly as bad as fsb/mem overclocking.
