8 gb ram enough??

Guys how much system memory do i need to run games at 1440p? i currently own a gtx 980 and 8 gb of ram....system information shows that only 6.9 gbs of those 8 gbs is usable...should that be enough??

By about 4 GB. 8GB is enough for pretty much any known gaming title.

yes i know 8 gb is enough for 1080p..but m talking about 1440p...also only 6.9 out of those 8 gbs can be used by applications

It's enough. Even the recent Titan X with 12GB of VRAM doesn't require more than 8GB of system RAM for 4K resolutions. 16GB won't hurt, but it isn't strictly necessary either.
