Recommendation: CPU/MOBO Combo: AMD Athlon II X3 440 Rana 3.0GHz & GIGABYTE GA-770TA-UD3 - $171.98

The Rosewill case is an acceptable case and looks good. You are okay with either PSU (OCZ or Silverstone) for your build. I won't use the DVD drive since it is an IDE drive and you want SATA drives. You can keep the Maxtor drive as a back up drive but the Samsung Spinpoint F3 or Seagate 7200.12 will be much faster.

Switch to a 435 proc with a hyper 212+ cooler ...

Drop that 750GB drive in lieu of a 1TB F3 (@$75USD) ... Or drop it altogether.

Stretch for a 5770, even if you have to save for 8 more weeks !! THIS IS CRUCIAL !


... Good rig, tho ... Just drop the 2nd HDD and stretch for the 5770 ... really !!

is the 5770 really worth the $50 increase over the 4850? in a year i will probably upgrade to a 5850 or sumthing. Also what can i do with my 17" monitor? i dont want to throw it away because its till working fine.

If you plan to do 5850 in a year, then, yeah ... "whatever", for now.

The 17" monitor configures well as a 2nd "out-rigger" reference screen ... you would need at least a 5670 for Eyefinity support (only select 5670s support) ...

I am almost positive that Win7 will natively allow a 2nd monitor.

ALL nVidia GeForce cards will support a 2nd monitor at almost any rez and with vertical orientation ... a 9800GT or 240GT or 250GT would game fairly well and allow vertical orientation of the outrigger 2nd screen ... That should give ATi enough time to iron out the kinks in the Eyefinity drivers and to match nVidia's native features.

Lot's of ways to go, for lots of reasons ... some tough calls to make ... better you than me.

PS: I've been honing my build for 4 months ... the contents of my cart has completely changed 3 times over 4 months ...

Right now, i willl just leave my current computer in one piece and maybe give it away to a friend or someone.

Now for my build, i was wondering where to buy the parts because recently i have visited a few sites that has some cool deals. I would also be adding a 5770 instead since it will last longer.

I think that going for the 5770, now, is by far the most prudent of all options.

This decision will be more fun, immediately, and last longer and cost less, over the long haul. ... BINGO !

As far as CAD suppliers go ... I cannot vet them for you but I will pretend that I just moved to "Oh, Canada" and tell you what my process would be ...

... I would physically visit two centrally located PC gaming shops, in my city ... and I would ask the "crew" what are some of the best parts suppliers and OC sites on the Canadian internet ... I'd spend the rest of that weekend cruising those sites and associated forums and ask that same question, everywhere I visit. ... "What is the best parts supplier, for pricing and righteous RMAs ?".

Within 48 hours, you will know where to go. I'd just say go with newegg.ca
