So I was looking to buy a new motherboard and transfer as many components from my old build as possible. I have 2 4gb 800mhz RAM sticks and I was wondering if they would be compatible in a motherboard that states it's supports 1066/1333 RAM.
Given that DDR3 RAM is fairly cheap used I would honestly just buy the native speed RAM for the CPU/Mobo. You could try it and see if it works, you cant actually harm anything, it simply may not work or be unstable.
Is that ddr2? Because ddr2 being 800 is common but not ddr3. Even the first cpus to have ddr3 were 1066. I've never even seen 800 ddr3 ram. You could also be confusing actual vs effective speed. 800x2 is 1600 which is the stock speed for that cpu and common.
