So I recently bought and installed a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 LED. Going from the stock cooler I would Imagine that my temps would be A LOT better. I used to be able to stream while gaming and now I get horrible frame drops. I've reinstalled the heatsink multiple times to see if placement or something of that nature was off. I'm not sure whats going on...

Mobo- MSI 970A G 43
CPU- AMD FX 8350
GPU- Radeon R9 290x
CoolerMaster 212 Evo
10 GB Ram

Temp at Idle is like 30 but under load it can get to 75-80....

And CPUID monitor says different temps for different things????

Fans are all situated the right way...

HELP!

Solution
Your cpu is throttling under loads because your motherboard is not very good. Your motherboard is not good enough to power a 125w cpu due to poor vrm heatsinks. The CM 212 is worse than your stock cooler because your stock cooler at least directed air down onto your motherboard. The 212 keeps air moving parallel to your motherboard causing your vrms to overheat more easily.

don't forget that whatever you choose, you'll have to get a new Windows licence too.
Add that to the RAM you'll have to buy when you go Intel.
If you go Intel, don't go for the i3, you really won't see a real change. Go straight i5 or better.

I have a LEPA MX1 and they advertise 600w, but from what I've been reading they only output 500.. I actually got this rig off of NewEgg as a supercombo years ago and haven't had issues with it until recently.

My friends bringing the Mobo later on today so I'll see how it runs off of that. But he told me to go the Intel route as well and like I said, my AMD experience hasn't been very good.

So I'm thinking I'll try to pawn my rig off for a couple hundred bucks to make the leap for Intel.
Doing so, go with the i5, or the i3 3.8?

My buddy works at bestbuy so I can get 20% off of all this and I may have to take advantage of that...

Haha thanks man!

I'll just see how the mobo works first. This thing hasn't really let me down until the past 2 weeks or so. And thats why I decided to buy a new heatsink, which did nothing. But now that I know the mobo is the problem, hopefully all is well! :)

I appreciate all the responses. I've learned a ton! haah

so your advise then would be change everything and get something that won't allow him to upgrade in the future? Weird advise...
I would understand the jump to a recent i5 rig, but one that will force him to change once again everything next time he posts here about upgrading because of lack of performance and such, well...

What are you talking about? I listed it as an option. It was a quick and easy option that allowed him to get an i5 while not having to replace everything. The 4590 would be a huge upgrade over the FX8350 and it would be YEARS before he needed to upgrade it.

He did say

Or to get on the newest platform and there have the best upgrade path

And thats why I brought up buying an i5 over an i3. I wouldn't mind spending the extra $70 or so if its the better route

This is with 16GB RAM. You could spend $30 less and get 2x4GB and it would be fine. I just figured that if you were going to upgrade, may as well get 2x8GB. It's be one less future upgrade for you to worry about.

when you read all the other threads where you guys jump in telling people to drop the 83X0 CPUs and get an Intel because bla bla bla so much better bla bla bla choice for the future bla bla bla you'll be so amazed bla bla bla and you'll be able to upgrade to something better, that's always always something you guys put forward; you'll be able to upgrade to something better if you want.
So if I stick to that, why do you advise a CPU that he will not be able to upgrade? you're saying it would be YEARS before he needs to upgrade it. So his 8350 is so bad that he needs to upgrade it, it's a useless piece of merde, but you're confident that a 4590 is so much better for his needs (gaming rig?) that it will last years, so he doesn't have to spend a few $$ more for a more recent Intel?
I don't get it.
But well, you obviously know better than me, so I'll log off that thread and let you 2 change the world :)
