Can i run 850 watt speakers on a 500 watt amplifier?

Yes. As long as your amp wattage doesn't exceed the speaker wattage, you should be ok. What resistance are the speakers and the amp?

Yes. The speaker wattage (power) is what they can withstand. The Amplifier's wattage is what it can produce.

There is no speaker that can handle 850 watts period.Unless it is a large disco speaker or an amplified speaker. Amplifier are usually in RMS .
