I have an Inspirion 8500 and a Zenith DVD/VHS recorder, model XBR413,
that has a 1394 input for video. Upon connecting the two my 8500
see's a connection and the recorder shows an "uncontrollable device"
attached to that, 1394, input.

Anybody have any info on using this combination? Specifically what
program would allow me to send video to the recorder? Windows Movie
Maker claims there is no tape in the recorder and the recorder will
not allow me to start recording from this input presumably because it
cannot control the input device.

Any pointers, references, help is appreciated.

Additional info...

While attempting to utilize the 1394 port I found that XP created a
second local area connection that was described as a Microsoft Video
connection. I deleted that connection and now do not see it being
recreated nor can I recreate the steps to cause the system to create
that connection.

After reading the manual and reviewing the things I have done it
appears that the recorder is looking for a camera. I suspect I would
need some SW to mimic a camera on that port.
