[SOLVED] 850W PSU for a RTX 2070?!

Solution
An RTX 2070 Super would happily run off a decent 550W PSU, depending on the rest of the system of course (say, an R5 3600 build - an overclocked i9 might be cutting it a bit fine!).

An OCed 9600k might still be south of 200W:

With stock closer to 120W.

So depends a bit what the OP needs from the system but it sounds unlikely they need to be looking higher than 650W. Overprovisioning not necessarily being so important nowadays.

Maybe Asus were thinking SLI - who knows :)

So i personally bought a Nvidia RTX 2070 8 gb OC super and on the box it says that its recommended to have at least 650 W. I'd say a minimum to have is 700W. I have a 850 W one myself but it came with the computer so i didn't bother about that too much.

850W would be if you're incredibly paranoid, most run the 2070s off a gold-certified 650w. I'm currently running an RTX 2080 off a gold-certified 750W and it's been great.

Funny you should say that. I originally had it on a low end 550W for awhile until I freed up the 750W and later the 850W. Ran fine at max load gaming with my i5-9600K. All at stock clocks then. That's why I was wondering about the crazy PSU requirement as per Asus.
