Hello,
Is a 850watt gold rated psu enough for a 3090Ti ?
That's vague.850watt gold
EVGA Supernova 850 G+ 80 plus GoldProbably not.
3000 series cards can have power demand spikes much higher than the nominal requirements.
What is the make/model of the 850w psu?
The ability of a psu to handle such spikes will be determined by the quality of the unit.
Gold rating is not a quality indicator.
If you have the psu, go ahead and try it.
Be alert to any strange behavior.
If you are buying, look for a stronger psu with a 7 year warranty or better.
12900K or 5950XIt depends on the quality of the psu and the rest of the system. Gold is not a measure of quality and the choice of cpu can make >100w difference to the system power requirements.
Very good unit.EVGA Supernova 850 G+ 80 plus Gold
Thanks,Very good unit.
Give it a try.
Be sure to connect the3090 with individual pcie cables.
Do not try to save cables by combining.
It has a ACRF topology on the primary. Not sufficient for a 3090Ti. You want nothing but a Tier A unit. They all have LLC on the primary that can handle the spikes of a high-end videocard very well which a ACRF unit can't.EVGA Supernova 850 G+ 80 plus Gold
True enough, but it appears that the OP already has a quality 850w unit and wants to know if it will work. You have spent a bundle to buy the 3090Ti. Why not spend another $50 - $75 and get yourself something that won't ruin it??
Get a decent 1000 W (or even a bit higher) just to be on the safe side and be future-proof.

850w is light for a 3090ti , due to the transient power spikes.

Which psu would you recommend? Do I want multi rail or single rail +12v? Should I go 1000 watt or 1200 or 1600?You have spent a bundle to buy the 3090Ti. Why not spend another $50 - $75 and get yourself something that won't ruin it??

Are the P+, P3 and T2 from EVGA any good? How about the Corsair HX series?
