It's a good question, 6 physical cores vs 4 physical cores + 4 logical (Hyperthreading)

Physical cores do beat logical but the extra 2 threads will come in handy in some games. Games that don't fair well with Hyperthreading the 6 core 8600k will beat. Games that do support Hyperthreading the 6700k will have an edge.

Why not go for the 8700k? Will certainly last longer than either, a lot longer.

here in india 8700k is 10k ( 150 usd ) more than 8600k so thinking btw getting 6700k + maximus viii hero, it's 8k( 120 usd ) lesser than 8600k + asrock gaming k6 so i guess getting the 6700k is a better deal what's ur opinion ??

Going on intel and how rushed coffeelake was I'm not sure it would even be compatible plus the 10nm chips have been pushed back again. the 6700K is basically a 7700K with a lower clock which can be altered and is still a beast of a chip for gaming.

Can't go wrong with either platform you've suggested, both will run well for a good 2 years maybe more. Intel are having trouble with their 10nm nodes so for the moment the release of canon lake has been suspended.

8700k is an excellent processor and could probably pick one up second hand later. Would be wiser to go 8600k and have opportunities.
