8800 GTS (G92) vs. 8800 GT vs. 8800 GTX

Im looking into a new video board on newegg, specifically the G92 8800GTS. I notice that these boards are clocked higher then an 8800GT, and have the same amount of stream processors as the 8800GTX. How do these G92 GTS boards rate against the GT and GTX?

If I read these correctly, they should outperform the 8800GTX. Is that correct?

8800GTX > 8800GTS 512 > 8800GT 512 but :

It is little difficult to summarize the new GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB card’s performance. In games or benchmarks where fillrate and shader performance are the limiting factors, these new cards are excellent performers and can outpace even a GeForce 8800 GTX. But in situations where memory bandwidth and frame buffer size are more important, like say at high resolutions with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering enabled, the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB can’t quite keep up with the more expensive GTX due to its narrower memory bus and smaller frame buffer. Generally speaking though, the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB’s performance is better than the original 640MB GTS and the relatively new 8800 GT and on-par with the GeForce 8800 GTX at lower resolutions. Crank up the resolutions, however, and the GTX (or Ultra) is still the king of the hill.

Yeah Maziar had it spot on!
At high res, the GTX & Ultra are still the way to go

Maziar has it correct.

Just some things to keep in mind. The stock cooler on the 8800GT is lacking and some brands offer cards with different coolers, like MSI. The 8800GTS 512 is a bit better as it is clocked higher and has more stream processors than the GT. However the GTX and Ultra have more raw power. The GTS has 16 ROPs and the GTX has 24. However generally speaking they are on the same level most times.

I would not consider a GTX over a GTS for the simple fact of power and its old tech. I say if you are picking the GTX or Ultra over the GTS they you should wait for the next round of GTX's to come out if the GTS is what you are looking for get it. The GT and GS are also good as well as the 9600GT's. It all depends on your price range.
