Important information for those, who look at video card GeForce 8800 GTS. Last time we have not noted the officially recommended price, but now this informatiob is availble from our German associates. Retail prices of GeForce 8800 GTS will begin from $500 or ˆ500, depending on the sales region . geForce 8800 GTX will cost $650.

GEFORCE 8800 GTX 8800 GTS PRICES

GeForce 8800 gtx:

Frequency of video chip is 575 MHz. Which characteristic, 128 unfield shader blocks will operate at the frequency of 1350 MHz. As you see, strategy of the clock frequencies with different design for different functional blocks inside the video chip continues to excit with the new GPU.
The memory frequency of 1800 MHz DDR. the most amusing, that we will see on GeForce 8800 GTX memories of type Gddr-3.
Answer to the question "why not Gddr-4?" are in the video memory of GeForce 8800 gtx - such video card will have 768 mb memory. I.e., to the usual 512 mb. are added 256 additional mb. - most likely, for the needs of physical effects or other specific tasks. If GeForce 8800 gtx use memory Gddr-4 of this volume, price would be a lot higher and the card will be less attractive.
The memory bus also has uncommon word length - 384 bits. I.e., to the usual 256 bits with added 128 additional bits .this explains the U-shaped arrangement of the memory microcircuits around the videochip on the graphic map GeForce 8800 gtx.
Finally, the pair of speed characteristics: memory ensures the brandwidth og 86 Gbit/s, videochip fills rate equal to 38.4 with billion pixel per second.

GeForce 8800 gts (differs in terms of the modest characteristics):

Chip Frequency of 500 MHz.
96 unfield shader blocks, which work at the frequency of 1200 MHz.
Memory Frequency Of 1800 MHz DDR.
640 mb memory type Gddr-3 (512 + 128).
the 320- bit Memory bus (256 + 64).
The memory brandwidth 64 Gbit/s.

Both video card will support DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0, and also Dual- link DVI, HDCP, VIVO and HDTV

The second news is about the fact that video card on base of chip G80 will support the physics acceleration at the hardware level. Within the framework of the technology, called Quantum Effects (name can change in the final version), is implied the use a part of the unfield shader blocks of video chip G80 to calculate the physical effects. Strictly speaking, this confirms the previous data about the special features of G80 with the "physical" effects.

Possible to assume that those "additional" megas-byte of memory and the 128 memory bus were necessary for G80 exactly for the work with "physics". However, in the absence of clearly expressed "physical load" they hardly will stay in separate from the remaining resources of the video card.

It should be noted that the "physical" technology from NVIDIA can work also without SLI, on single video card. NVIDIA gives us to understood that Quantum will compete with AGEIA PhysX...

Wow, $650 is quite a sucker punch for a single card, hopefully it'll drop down significantly when ATI gets their DX10 solution into the market. Having just dropped 600 for a brand new 7950GX2 a few months back I think I'll wait for some DX10 software to hit the market before I make the jump.

Some oddities, looks like the GTS has heat spreaders over its ram, whereas the GTX doesn't. Maybe they just forgot to take them off prior to the photo shoot. The ram configuration is also a bit strange, completely surrounding the GPU like that, looks like it might be hard to get a liquid cooler on there. And why does the GTX have 2 sli bridges connecters on it? Can you do a quad-setup with them or what?

Good job finding some interesting info, I'm really looking forward to seeing how these bad boys perform against SLI and in SLI configs. This is looking to be the biggest thing in graphics since, I dunno, the 9700 pro came out?

WTF !?! THEY DIDN'T EVEN TEST ANYTHING !!!

" In this news we decided to combine different information about video card geForce 8800 GTX and GeForce 8800 GTS, which as u already know will apear soon

We start, perhaps, from the data about the cuurent speed level of video card geForce 8800 GTX in test 3DMark06, which published associates from site the inquirer. Results are attached to the model of the utilized processor; y: "

What a waste, just a reprint of InQ informtion, nothing new.

I don't like the fact that it is 3DMARK, better games such as Oblivion, FEAR, Crisis, and so on... So that we can get an understanding of what they are truly
capable of doing...

LOL, I liked the bar chart. When they were testing real cards, you got real scores. (like 9157 or something...) But when they jumped to the "tested" card, all of a sudden things became even. 10,000? 10,500? 12,000? Wheres my 10,646? Or perhaps my 12,356? Oh well, perhaps the 8800 is so awesome that it makes 3DMark round all the scores....

nothing new to you and me, but there are a lot of people who have no idea about g80, dx10 etc.

the purpose of this thread was to bring everyone up to date, and like I said you are more than welcome to add new stuff that you have found about g80 or r600!

well i guess that is the price you have to pay for dx10, quantum effects and all the other goodies this card has.

thank God my psu has enough juice to run 8800gtx, cause when i get that card im gonna be broke for a while lol. for my setup with 8800gtx 574w is suggested (assuming my oced cpu and 100% utilization) according to eXtreme Power Supply Calculator v2.0
