Hey everyone!, i currently bought a 4 gb stick of ram too go with my 2 2gb sticks of ram, so shouldnt it show up as 8gb of ram? Instead it shows up as 8gb (5.96 usable) Is this normal?

The 8gb ram they require will allow for allocated ram.

In your case, about 2gb is allocated eg integrated graphics, windows background processes etc (See Task Manager, Performance for details).

In my case, about 5gb (out of 16gb total) is allocated.

Maybe, could be. Can you in the bios adjust the dram voltage to 1.55V? See if this will help.
The 2x2 and the 1x4 are in seperate channels? Giving dualchannel ...

What are the specs of the ram? Or partnrs.

Mixing ram can give problems and in the end it might not want to play together so keep that in mind.

I should have asked this before, but which motherboard and cpu?

Can you also post a picture of the memory tab?

If you're able to set the bios settings for the ram manually at 1333mhz (or 666->=x2) and timings at 9-9-9-27,see what that does.

You could try the 2x2gb sticks in slots 3+4.I think this will probably give proper dualchannel.Means 4gb in each channel.
