I installed 2x4gb ram on my computer. It says that I've got 8gb ram installed, but only 3,97gb usable. It seems as if my ram sticks are only being half used. Because when I only had one stick installed it said that I had 4gb installed but only 2gb usable.
I would really like to fix this problem as I've struggled with it for a long time now...

- Motherboard model: Gigabyte 970A-ds3p (rev 1.0)
- Windows 10 64 bit

It didn't work. The thing is my old 2gb ram stick works perfectly fine on my computer. I've tried both a pair of 4gbx2 hyperx ram sticks and 4gbx2 Corsair and on both only half of the ram is being used. Could it be that each slot can only have 2gb installed?

And whats your ram and CPU? Probably its going to be that your ram isnt supported or dual channel wont kick in as in many posts said.

I had 775Dual-vsta with stock voltage on ram single stick appeared, with voltage rised a bit dual channel.
Read this tomshardware Thread and see if any of it Works after you update your bios.

CPU: AMD FX(tm)-6300 Six-Core Processor
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) (2x4GB)
I already checked that the ram was supported by my motherboard before I bought it.

Edit: I have already tried updating my bios
