90°C GPU non OC Temp in full load Is it normal??

Hi there i want to know your GPU temp either ATI or Nvidia, cuz ive buyed a Pure ATI 1900XTX and the idle is around 50°C and in fully loaded around 80°C sometimes 90°C. The worst is with the overdrive tool it go up to 97°C while the tool test the card 😛 i want feedback to know if its a normal temp for a GPU. Tx in advance !!!

Normal.Head on over to tech power up and grab the latest ATI tool.It will allow you to adjust fan speeds as you wish.

Adjust fan speeds. My card idles 50C and never gets over 70C, usually at near 100% fan speed.

If the fan speed is low, huge temps increases are quite common.

I use ATI Tool, but you can use Rivatuner. You should be albe to choose hwta % you fan is running at.

yes i find that menu... so what % should i choose for the standard 2D and performance 3D ... the default here is 28% for 2D and 43% for 3D...please Boss... give me some advice... (as always) 😀

If temps are high, try about 80% in games, and 50% in 2D, or lower if 50% is too loud.

OK , i will try 80%... my full load temp is about 72~74 . i think its a bit high... 🙁 i don`t want to buy a new VGA cooler because i will change my card when DX10 cards arrive...

Each card has its sweat spot, you just need to play around with it, and find it.

If it runs at 100% all the time, I would have some worries.

I just love temp questions...

Problem 1 is that they will never officially come out and say that product x can run max 90C

Problem 2 is that they should never have made temps visible to the consumer

Problem 3 is that in order to sell their product, they know that they can't sell a airplane prop as a fan, so they relax on the default fan speed settings resulting in a card that only responds to 70c+ temps

Solution to problem 1 and your request as to what is considered too hot: no one knows. But humanly. we all know that 95-100C is what is considered to be boiling point for water. That's inherent in our upbringing, and rightfully we are concerned with this.

So from what I've seen on the web, 80-90c is what is average for a x1900xtx using stock fan speed settings. Many people get this down to 70-80c using custom fan speeds. Using anything from 60-70% fan speed will keep the card below 80C

Solution to problem 2 and 3 is quite hard - but I have to state the following: If they can warantee a product that runs 90c in default, who are we to worry? As long as it's still under warantee, why care? Which brings me back to visible temp sensors - do you think anyone would be bothered if this wasn't a known variable?
